Beom Hong is a senior foreign attorney at Yoon & Yang LLC. His main practice areas are overseas construction, energy and the defense industry/public contract.
Mr. Hong served as a judge advocate in the Republic of Korea Army and as the international contracts officer at the Defense Acquisition Program Administration.

Before joining Yoon & Yang, he worked in the International Legal Affairs Team of Daewoo E&C as an in-house counsel, where he was involved in contract review and bid clarifications, drafting and negotiating various forms of construction-related agreements, and claim/dispute negotiations for some of the company’s major overseas construction projects in the Middle East, Africa, and Southeast Asia regions.

[Construction & Energy Advisory]

  • Advised a construction consortium in an overseas nuclear power plant project, reviewing construction contract terms with the main supplier and providing comprehensive advisory services throughout the project.
  • Advised a supplier in a train supply and signaling system project in Vietnam, reviewing and supporting negotiations of the supply contract, local production, and license agreements with the project owner
  • Represented a Korean contractor in a domestic offshore wind project, reviewing and negotiating construction contracts (EPC, grid connection, ancillary works, onshore substation, fire protection, underground cabling) with a foreign project owner.
  • Represented a contractor (joint venture member) in a domestic offshore wind project, conducting risk analysis of EPC contract terms and negotiating with a foreign project owner.
  • Advised a foreign contractor in a domestic offshore wind project, advising on bid participation, establishment of a local construction entity, and general corporate matters.
  • Advised a foreign developer in a domestic solar project, reviewing and negotiating construction contracts with a Korean contractor.

  • Represented a contractor in a domestic large-scale resort construction dispute, drafting and negotiating claims for prolongation costs and additional contract amounts against the project owner
  • Advised a contractor in a domestic offshore wind project, reviewing and advising on claims against the prime contractor
  • Represented a contractor in a Pakistan hydropower plant construction dispute, conducting Expert Determination proceedings regarding a contract price dispute with the project owner
  • Represented a client in a Hungary FAB construction dispute, managing Singapore ICC arbitration proceedings against a specialized subcontractor
